Angie's art from her first class, a small winter jewelery box:
It's empty, but I'm sure she's got a few goodies to fill it with.
After cleaning out under her bed, we found her big box of stamps. The girl is in love again.
And she dreams of rainbows. She takes after her mama.
Today, I picked up The Breakthrough, by Mary J Blige. I've followed her career off and on since way back in the '90's. I know that the woman has been through a lot to say the least. This CD is phenomenal. Her voice brings me another world, one where I'm sitting next to a blue, blue sea without a care in the world. Just me and Mary, hangin' on the beach. She's nominated for 9 Grammy's this year, one for her collaboration with Bono on the song One, which I think is just stunning. If YouTube wasn't suffering from downtime, I'd link the video here.
Mary's song, No More Drama (not on the Breakthrough) talks about letting go, and being free from all the pain, free from all the shame, free from all the stress, to find your happiness. Wise words from the queen of Hip Hop soul.

I love that Angie is taking crafty classes at a senior center! Her creations are LOVELY!
Duncan's latest art frenzy is pipe cleaner 'sculptures'. They are big, and bright, and I love them.

So strange - I just came from another blog playing that song. Is the universe trying to tell me something?
I love children's art. I can't wait until my own daughter hits an age where I can see more of her imagination in her work. Thank you so much for sharing these things - they bring joy to my heart.. even when they aren't my own child's project. That is one thing I miss about teaching.
