My Mom was born in Scotland. She emigrated to the U.S. in the late 1960's joining a sister who made it here before her. She left behind her mom (my Grannie) and one other sister (Aunt Mary) who was married and had four daughters. Those four daughters produced a bunch of offspring -cousins- that still live scattered around Scotland and Spain. My Aunt Mary was married to a man who's passion was photography. When he passed, my Aunt gave all of his cameras and equipment to my Mom, who kept his stuff packed nicely and tucked in the far corners of her storage closet. Last week, Mom and I got talking about cameras and she started showing me some of the equipment she was in possession of. Holy Cow! She's sitting on a mini gold mine.
Mom allowed me to take one camera to play with. I chose the Canon Ae-1. I spent the entirety of last week trying to figure this metal gadget out. Then, I sought help on the internet where I found some really cool and useful info. (Found in the link provided). Wow. It will probably take me a good while to get the jist of how this thing works, but I have to say, it's pretty cool. I can't wait to see the results of my curiosity.
Last night was spent shopping with my sister and our girls. Our mission: sneakers. I got to hang out with Sophia, the teeniest niece while the big girls did their shopping with Tina. Sophia is the cutest little thing. She made a bee-line for the toys and had a good time destroying that section (as any almost 2 year old would). Then she had some fun running in and around the different departments while I chased her like a mad woman. I forgot how hard it is to look after a kid in a big store. Oh, did the memories come flooding back. But, I did score big time. Nike, running sneakers, size 6... last pair... 80% off. $12 later, I've got a new pair of sneaks and yes, I did a happy dance in the store... much to the amusement of my tween nieces who's eyeballs I was sure would get stuck way back behind their heads.
Good luck with the new camera! Its always great to find a really great sale! I got a pair of Reebok's for about $13. My Aunt said I "stole" them!
