Remember back in October when I shared with you my fabulous night out on the town with my sister? Well last night, I did it again. I went to an event called *Girls Night Out* sponsored by the same event organizers as the last time. This is really a great event - and if you live in the NYC metro area, you must - check. it. out. Pay for the ticket that gets you the gift bag because the goodies alone more than make up for the money you spend.
My sister couldn't make it so I took my mother in law. The event was held down in Soho at a much bigger venue. The walls were awash with white drapery and lavender lighting gave the place a magical vibe. In each corner there was a bar with loungey type tables for your sitting and getting your drink/gossip on pleasure. Packs of trendy ladies were buzzing about, going from vendor to vendor checking out the goods. On display was a ton of jewelery, clothing, bags, indie-artsy types selling tee's and photo journals, crystals made into the prettiest kinds of creations, a Nintendo DS lounge (my kid's heart would skip a beat), teeth whitening stations, and a dj spinning delightful beats at a perfect volume. My one complaint: Not at all enough freebies from the vendors. At the last event, I picked up a bunch of freebies (lip glosses and plumpers, perfume samples, free panties, creme samples). This time around, no such thing.
After we had our fill, we strolled on down to a cute little place called Firefly for dinner. The atmosphere was cool, the food was great, the service sucked. My mother in law was in her glory after being home for six weeks with the whole shingles ordeal. She's finally over that and ready for some fun. A girls night out was seriously, just what the doctor ordered.
As we drove home, my head and stomach were going insane, craving something sweet. This is so weird to me because I never get cravings that are that out of control. It must have been a result of the drinks/food/ogling of a French patisserie that closed it's doors before we could stop in that gave me a wanting for the sweets. We stopped at the mini mart and picked up a half dozen Krispy Kreme donuts... mmmm.... my first *real* taste of sugary nastiness in weeks. Pure satisfaction. I ate one.. and a half.. and gave the rest to the family to enjoy. Then it was Angie's bedtime so we snuggled in and talked about how we both spent our night and how we're gonna go through all of the gifties today. We fell asleep with smiles on our faces. Today, I should really go to the gym, but I've got a ton of laundry to sift through and a little girl's birthday party to plan.
